The origin and development of Yoga
The history of yoga can be traced back to at least 5000 years ago. On the pottery excavated by archaeologists in the Indus River Basin, the shape of Yoga figures during meditation is depicted, which proves the long history of yoga. Yoga was originally developed by eminent monks in ancient India in order to seek the highest state of mind and spirit unity. They meditate in the virgin forest, understand the laws of nature from observing creatures, and gradually sense the subtle changes inside the body, thus starting the exploration and conditioning of the body.
The development of yoga has experienced the evolution from primitive philosophy to practice. Yoga is gradually recorded and systematized in the Vedas, Upanishads and other ancient books. By about 300 B.C., Indian Saint jepatanjali created the Yoga Sutra, and the Yoga system was formally formed and divided into eight branches. Since then, yoga has experienced the development of the post classical period, integrating more practice techniques and philosophical thoughts.
Yoga practice and precautions
Yoga exercises usually include stretching, strength, endurance and cardiorespiratory function strengthening exercises, which help to promote physical health and coordinate the functions of the whole body. When practicing yoga, you should pay attention to the following points:
Fasting exercise: Yoga should not be practiced within 3 hours after meals to avoid nausea, headache and other phenomena caused by excessive stomach burden. You can eat a small amount of liquid food, such as milk and juice, about 1 hour before the exercise.
Environment choice: yoga practice is best carried out in a clean and comfortable room, with enough stretching space and fresh air circulation. Avoid practicing in strong wind, cold or polluted air, and do not practice in direct sunlight (except at dawn).
Clothing and props: wear loose and soft clothes, preferably cotton and linen. Shoes and socks should be taken off. Watches, glasses and other accessories should also be taken off. Using a professional yoga mat can provide cushioning and help maintain balance. Beginners can use props such as yoga bricks and yoga ropes to assist in practice.
Breathing and relaxation: breathing is very important in yoga practice. With the correct breathing, you can make the movement more smooth and achieve better results. After the exercise, do not eat or take a bath immediately, but first let the body relax, and the breathing and heartbeat return to normal.
Benefits of Yoga
The benefits of yoga are manifold. It can not only enhance the flexibility, strength and endurance of the body, but also improve the coordination of the body and promote the balance of blood circulation and endocrine system.
